Mansur Yavaş says 'we are uneasy': That recklessness during the resolution process cost us 800 martyrs
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB) Mayor Mansur Yavaş came together with families of martyrs and veterans for an iftar dinner.
Yavaş, in his speech at the iftar program held in honor of the families of martyrs and veterans at the ANFA Fair and Congress Center, wished for the accepted status of the fasts kept and prayers performed.
Praying for the souls of all martyrs to rest in heaven, Yavaş said that the fire of martyrdom burns only where it falls.
"Who does not want peace and tranquility in their country? Who were the ones who disrupted this peace? Who were the ones who fought against those who disrupted this peace?" asked Yavaş, adding, "Now, all of a sudden, a 50-year struggle is being cast aside and a resolution process, like the one in 2015, is being brought to the agenda.
Our sorrow is this: while saying 'We will resolve it, we will resolve it,' we gave exactly 800 martyrs to eliminate the terrorism that surged following that resolution process. In other words, that recklessness during that resolution process cost us 800 martyrs. For this reason, we are uneasy
. When they say 'Resolution, peace' like this, we look and see the head of the terrorist organization suddenly being portrayed as a peace dove, being called a 'founding leader.' We know of only one founding leader, and that is Mustafa Kemal Atatürk." he said.
Mansur Yavaş continued his speech as follows:
"They are being deceived again. They say, 'Weapons will be laid down.' You look at the statement and there is not even an 's' for laying down weapons. It is being called a ceasefire. You know, a ceasefire is made when there is a war between two countries. We are not facing an enemy country. There are those who are hostile to the country. We do not recognize such a thing as a ceasefire. They will lay down their weapons. First and foremost, they will lay down their weapons both inside and outside the country. However, we have not seen any signs of this to date."
Stating that everything regarding the process should be shared with the public, Yavaş expressed that representatives of the families of martyrs should also be included in the process and that nothing can be done without seeking their blessing.
Stating that the public cannot be expected to act as if nothing has happened while the process is ongoing, Yavaş said that a large segment of society stands with the families of martyrs and veterans on this issue.
Yavaş said, "Our hearts wish for it to be good. But it is the right of all of us to approach it with hesitation. Because it was tried before, and it turned out worse. I hope it will not be like that."
