May 19 message from Meral Akşener

İYİ Party 1st Chairperson Meral Akşener shared a message on X regarding the May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day.

Akşener stated the following:

''We are in the 105th year of that first step, illuminated by the sun that rose in Samsun on May 19, 1919... The noble Turkish nation, which brought the whole world to its knees when it came to its independence, which shook the heavens and the earth when its will was touched, and which never bowed to any pressure, undoubtedly carries that glorious spirit of 1919 in its heart today as well. It continues to draw inspiration from the courage of those who wore shirts of fire against the steel-clad walls that surrounded the horizon of the West, against all internal and external ill-wishers, against negligence, misguidance, and all betrayals. It understands better with each passing day the sacred struggle waged by those who swore to be a mother, a father, a child, and a light for every member of their nation, and to fear nothing. From this day forward, I have no doubt that our youth, the true owners and guardians of the Republic of Turkey, the heirs of Turkish democracy, and the unyielding fortress of Turkish independence, will be the endless hope of our country in the light of that great vision etched in history in golden letters; with the same spirit, the same determination, and the same faith. On this occasion, may the souls of all our heroes of independence, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, be blessed and may they rest in peace. Happy May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day!''
