Mayor rumored to be joining AKP hits back: 'No one should worry'
Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca has reacted sharply to claims that he would be "joining the AK Party." Emphasizing his loyalty to the CHP and the citizens who voted for him, Karaca stated, "I am loyally committed to the party founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk; I am staying where I am, no one should worry."
Fethiye Mayor Alim Karaca of the CHP has categorically denied rumors circulating in some media outlets and on social media that he would be "joining the AK Party." Stating that there are circles that have wanted to occupy the agenda with similar speculations since the day he took office, Karaca emphasized his loyalty to the CHP and his responsibility to the voters.
"I WILL NEVER BETRAY 45 THOUSAND 600 VOTES"
Accusing those who spread the claims of trying to stay relevant, Karaca said, "I am not someone who would betray the 45 thousand 600 citizens who trusted and voted for me. I will not betray the party that nominated me in Fethiye, the most beautiful city in the world. This party is the party that founded the republic. I am loyally committed to the party founded by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. I am staying where I am, no one should worry."
"I DO NOT TAKE BASELESS RUMORS SERIOUSLY"
Mayor Karaca recalled that rumors such as "a trustee will be appointed to the municipality" or "he will be removed from office" have been circulated since the day he took office, and noted the following:
"I would never betray the votes of an elected person. I am strictly against transfers between parties. I have been serving as mayor for three terms; I have never discriminated against anyone based on their political views to this day. But let everyone know that Alim Karaca has a stance and will never compromise on it. Whatever the cost, I will stand tall."
"WE ARE THE ONLY MUNICIPALITY WITH NO DEBT"
Boasting about the municipality's financial structure and management approach, Karaca stated, "I have been in office for three terms, and there is not a single file against me in the judiciary. Dozens of state inspectors have audited our municipality, and the Court of Accounts has examined all our documents. Not the slightest discrepancy was found. We are the only municipality in Turkey with no debt. We provide uninterrupted service in 41 neighborhoods. We are serving as mayor with our honor and integrity. We will continue to protect every lira of the citizens."
