Mehmet Uçum's remarks on the Kurdish issue: These are all imperialist projects...

Chief Advisor to the President and Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Legal Policies Board Mehmet Uçum, in a post on his social media account, stated: "Throughout our Republican history up until 1980, various negative practices experienced in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions, along with historical, cultural, sociological, economic, and political debates, have always held an important place in the development process and deep discussions of Turkey's history of democracy."

Uçum noted the following in his post:

"The attempts to reject and deny Kurds, which were put into effect along with the fascism of September 12—one of the darkest periods that suspended our history of democracy—led to the definition of an 'internal Kurdish issue.' Under the administrations of President Erdoğan, where policies of rejection and denial were ended, Kurds gained recognition of their identities, the lifting of bans on their native languages, academic and cultural rights, regional development, economic prosperity, and opportunities for social justice. A peaceful environment was also created as terrorism within the country reached the point of ending.

A TERROR-SUPPORTED KURDISH ISSUE WAS PRODUCED

Of course, there will always be issues to be evaluated within the scope of developing and strengthening democracy and a new constitution. However, these are now common issues for the entire society; they are addressed and resolved through common policies, not separatist approaches. Furthermore, over the last forty years, a terror-supported 'external Kurdish issue' has been produced as an imperialist project. This project is based on the formula 'ethnic identity = national identity = independent (mandate) state.' This is not an objective Kurdish issue. It is an effort to carve territory out of Turkey and establish a mandate state in the Middle East as an imperialist imposition. Against this, a State initiative that changes the paradigm has been put forward with the historic moves of Mr. Bahçeli and President Erdoğan starting from October 1, 2024. This initiative is the goal of 'Strengthening National Unity and Brotherhood and a Terror-Free Turkey.'

The imperialist project aims to tear Turkey's Kurds away from the Republic of Turkey, which is their independent state, and from their homeland, Turkey. The project of a state and country belonging to Kurds is defined as the Kurds' right to status. The first step of this is the devolution of authority/political autonomy in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. The ultimate goal is to establish a state under the mandate of imperialism. In other words, the role assigned to Kurds in the mind of imperialism consists only of being a constant factor of unrest in the region, a useful apparatus, and an army of terror. This plan is not intended to give Kurds status or to help them grow, but to shrink Turkey.

There is no status issue for Turkey's Kurds, and therefore no right to be defined based on status. Because the status mentioned is to have a country and a state. Turkey's Kurds, with a thousand-year spirit and consciousness of brotherhood, took part in our War of Independence against imperialism, and with the same consciousness and spirit, in the founding of our Republic. In accordance with the principle, 'The people of Turkey who founded the Republic of Turkey are called the Turkish Nation!', the Kurds, as an inseparable part of the Single Nation, voluntarily participated in the founding of the Republic of Turkey and determined their own destiny forever. Therefore, the National State of the Kurds is the Republic of Turkey. The homeland of the Kurds is Turkey. For this reason, the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey also includes a call and warning for Kurds to claim their State and their Homeland.

From now on, the attitudes to be taken against the imposition of granting status rights to Turkey's Kurds, which is an imperialist project, will be the fundamental measure that will determine the ranks in the goal of a Terror-Free Turkey. Politics of taqiyya, hypocritical approaches, and back-channel conversations must end. Everyone must openly and honestly state their opinion on the granting of status to Kurds, which is indisputably an imperialist project. The black and white must be clear.

Because the struggle against the artificial 'external Kurdish issue' imposed on Turkey today, whose main purpose is to divide Turkey, is the most fundamental issue in Turkey's anti-imperialist struggle. It is extremely important that the Internal Front be primarily consolidated and strengthened on this issue. It is mandatory to protect Turkey's geographical integrity and political unity. It is vital for the future of Turkey."
