Merger call from the Innovation Party to the New Party

Innovation Party Chairman Öztürk Yılmaz has issued a call for a merger with the New Party due to the debate over name similarity and the resulting legal process. Yılmaz requested that the New Party make its decision by Monday, October 5.

The Innovation Party's Board of Chairmen and Sovereignty Assembly met in an extraordinary joint session to evaluate the process, which has been taken to the Court of Cassation and the Constitutional Court on the grounds that the name "New Party" causes confusion with their own party.

Making a statement after the meeting, Yılmaz argued that the merger option would resolve both the name dispute and the issue of election eligibility in a short time. Yılmaz stated, "When a merger occurs, everything is finished within 15 days. If there is no merger, they cannot solve the name problem."

Öztürk Yılmaz summarized the roadmap they proposed under three headings, calling on the New Party to "let us solve your name problem within 15 days," "let us solve your eligibility problem within 15 days," and "let us gather and organize the social opposition within 15 days by ensuring the merger of the parties."

Yılmaz said, "If they want to merge with us and solve these problems, they should make their decision by Monday, October 5."

Stating that if a merger does not occur, the New Party could change its name at a congress, Yılmaz argued that this alone would not provide the eligibility to participate in elections. Yılmaz pointed to a possible early election scenario, noting that the legal waiting period after a grand congress would push the calendar to May.

Stating that the Innovation Party obtained election eligibility in 8.5 months, Yılmaz expressed that if the merger takes place, the New Party could continue its path "without hitting any obstacles" based on the current eligibility.
