Message from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel for Bülent Ecevit

Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate for change Özgür Özel won the chairmanship election at the party's 38th Ordinary Congress.

At the congress, which was attended by 1,367 delegates from 81 provinces, Özgür Özel received 812 votes, while Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu received 536 votes.

HE BECAME THE 8TH CHAIRMAN OF THE CHP

Özgür Özel became the 8th Chairman of the CHP, the first political party of the Republic of Turkey, following Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, İsmet İnönü, Bülent Ecevit, Deniz Baykal, Hikmet Çetin, Altan Öymen, and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

HE DID NOT FORGET BÜLENT ECEVİT

Özel commemorated Bülent Ecevit in his capacity as chairman on his personal social media account.

In a post on his X account, Özel stated, "I commemorate our 3rd Chairman, Mr. Bülent Ecevit, who brought social democracy to power, became the 'Karaoğlan' and the hope of the people, and from whose political journey we have learned so much, with respect and mercy on the anniversary of his passing."
