Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş attended the opening ceremony of the Cumhuriyet Swimming Pool and Sports Complex, which was completed in Etimesgut Bağlıca.
In his speech at the ceremony, Yavaş stated that they attach importance to children meeting sports at an early age and said that they aim to create opportunities where young people can develop their talents and receive the rewards of their efforts. Yavaş wished the facility to be beneficial for Ankara.
After the opening, Yavaş toured the facility and watched a water polo match and a volleyball game in the pool. Later, when asked by members of the press for his assessment regarding mayors changing parties, Yavaş responded.
Stating that the reasons for party changes should be investigated, Yavaş said, "There has never been such a high intensity of party switching before. Therefore, ask this specifically to our mayors who changed parties; they will provide an answer. If they do not answer, hopefully, the reasons for these will emerge in time."
Emphasizing that mayors are responsible to the citizens who elected them, Yavaş stated, "Those who change parties will also have to account for that at the ballot box. I am not in a position to interfere with someone else's discretion."
"WE ARE INDEPENDENT" MESSAGE
Regarding their service approach in Ankara, Yavaş made the statement, "We are currently independent. We are serving the people of Ankara equally. We will continue to serve all of Ankara with our party badges removed."
