MHP Deputy Chairman İsmail Özdemir made a noteworthy post on his social media account regarding Sedat Peker, who has been abroad since 2019.
Quoting a user's wish on the X platform regarding Peker's return to Turkey, Özdemir referred to the words "He is our fellow nationalist" used by MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli for Peker.
He is a valuable man of our cause and heart, whom our esteemed Chairman has referred to as 'our fellow nationalist' every time. God willing, he and his family will soon be reunited with our homeland.
Özdemir's post was interpreted as a new political message from the MHP front regarding Peker's return to Turkey.
PROCESS REGARDING PEKER
Sedat Peker left Turkey in November 2019. Following Montenegro and Macedonia, an "organized crime group" investigation was launched on April 9, 2021, against Peker, who had settled in the United Arab Emirates; a police raid was conducted on his villa in Beykoz.
Following this process, Peker raised various allegations regarding the relationships between politics, bureaucracy, and organized crime in videos he published on YouTube and social media accounts. Peker later announced that the UAE administration had imposed "digital isolation" on him.
The statement from the MHP front has sparked renewed debate in the public eye following recent reports that some organized crime leaders had come together at the party headquarters.
