Message from Özgür Özel on the anniversary of the Soma disaster! 'Our hearts are burning just like the first day'

Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel shared a post on his X account on the 11th anniversary of the Soma Mining Disaster, which occurred on May 13, 2014, and claimed the lives of 301 miners. 

Stating, "11 years later, our hearts are burning just like the first day," Özel added, "We will not bow down to this dark order."

We lost 301 of our lives in a disaster that was clearly coming while they were trying to earn their bread with the sweat of their brow seven layers below the ground.

Özel stated the following:

“We lost 301 of our lives in a disaster that was clearly coming while they were trying to earn their bread with the sweat of their brow seven layers below the ground. 11 years later, our hearts are burning just like the first day. Our 301 miners live on in our struggle today. We have not forgotten, we will not let them be forgotten. We will fight to the end to defend the rights of the laborer, to stop workplace homicides, and to never lose another life again. We will not bow down to this dark order.”
