Metiner's 'operation' statement: 'They want to leave Erdoğan without Kurds'
Yeni Şafak columnist and former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner claimed that there is an attempt to "leave Erdoğan and the AKP without Kurds." Metiner wrote that Kurdish voters drifted toward other orientations in the March 31 local elections.
Yeni Şafak columnist and former AKP deputy Mehmet Metiner evaluated the distancing of Kurdish voters from the AKP.
"THE AKP'S KURDS"
Metiner stated, "I am not talking about a new resolution process. But a new Kurdish policy is of indispensable importance."
Noting that "When the AK Party was first founded, the support of the Kurds was very great. Over time, this support decreased," Metiner wrote that the Kurdish voters he defined as "the AK Party's Kurds" drifted toward other orientations in the March 31 local elections.
In his article titled "The operation to leave Erdoğan/the AK Party without Kurds," Metiner stated that a portion of the Kurdish voters shifted to HÜDA PAR, a portion to the YRP, and a small portion to the CHP.
"THOSE WHO WANT TO LEAVE THE REIS WITHOUT KURDS..."
Stating that "When İmamoğlu's policy of embracing the DEM Party for political and tactical reasons was added to the DEM Party's policy of using Kurds as a spare tire for the anti-Erdoğan front for ideological reasons, a different picture emerged in the March 31 elections," Metiner expressed the view that "Erdoğan, who should be the Kurds' primary choice, appears to be increasingly targeted to be left without Kurds."
Predicting that "I know that at this point in my words, some among us will ask, 'What more do the Kurds want? What are they missing?'," Metiner wrote, "Even this question or questioning itself, which is contrary to the founding spirit and mission of the AK Party, carries water to the mill of those who want to leave the Reis/the AK Party without Kurds."
"WE WILL REGRET IT TOMORROW"
Stating that "Just as security policies are necessary in the fight against terrorism, it is equally necessary to implement a new political mindset aimed at winning over our Kurds in every sense domestically," Metiner noted that Erdoğan's visit to Erbil was important in every respect.
Asserting that a regional equation without Kurds can no longer be established, Metiner used the expressions, "Therefore, a new state policy regarding the region must be urgently implemented. It is necessary to produce a new position that will include not only Erbil, but also the Kurds in Syria within Erbil's sphere of influence into the equation."
Metiner concluded his article with the lines, "If the game of leaving Erdoğan/the AK Party without Kurds or tearing the Kurds of this country away from Erdoğan is not urgently disrupted, we will regret it tomorrow, let it be known!"
