MHP Aydın Provincial Chair Haluk Alıcık dismissed, MHP's Semih Yalçın lashes out at the media

A stir in the political agenda occurred after a photo of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Aydın Provincial Chair Haluk Alıcık gambling at a hotel spread on social media. The decision to dismiss Haluk Alıcık was announced particularly after media outlets sympathetic to the main opposition gave extensive coverage to the reports.

MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın announced in a post regarding the matter that the dismissal process was evaluated as a reaction to the media reports.

Yalçın included the following statements in his announcement:

"REGARDING THE DISMISSAL OF THE AYDIN PROVINCIAL CHAIR

Following the intentional broadcasts made by the CHP-sympathetic media, primarily the town crier and mouthpiece Halk TV, MHP Provincial Chair Haluk Alıcık has been dismissed by us.

The MHP does not and will not allow any speculation regarding the character and actions of those serving in its organizations and other cadres.

We expect the same sensitivity and honorable stance shown by the MHP from the CHP regarding their mayors who are being tried and against whom dozens of allegations have been made.

Let's see if the CHP will be able to display the same honorable attitude."

In the statements made, it was emphasized that the disciplinary line within the party organizations would be maintained. It has not yet been clarified who will be appointed to replace Alıcık.

While the repercussions of the issue continue in political circles, the party leadership maintained its firm stance against the controversies.
