MHP's 'Family Institution Workshop' begins

With the instruction of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, the "Family Institution Workshop," which will last for two days at the ATO Congresium within the framework of the "Strong Turkish Family Structure, Healthy Society and Leader Country Turkey" vision, has begun.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Yurdakul pointed out that protecting the state and society is only possible by protecting the family, and stated that they organized the workshop with a sense of national cause, with the awareness that the family is a matter of survival, and to protect, develop, and prepare the Turkish family structure for the future.

Yurdakul said that due to the influence of indirect factors that have been eroding and degenerating the family institution for a long time, they are facing "unhappy families where rising divorces and violence play a leading role, decreasing marriage and birth rates, rising loneliness and indifference to society, increasing disrespect towards family elders, small and nuclear families retreating into their shells, and families having only one child due to various concerns."

Pointing out that they are aware of the risks and threats that directly target the "family institution," Yurdakul continued as follows:

"We have all watched and are watching the sexual confusion, genderlessness, and the radical elements trying to normalize these that were revealed in the tableau displayed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games, the images that could negatively affect children's character and their love and respect for their families, from the cartoons they watch to the games they play, and the series, films, video clips, and social media posts that try to shape relationships between men and women with their radical views and create a ground for direct attacks on traditional values."

RISKS AND THREATS

Addressing these risks and threats in his speech, Yurdakul said:

"Families affected by global economic developments, pandemics, earthquakes, and wars, threats emerging due to the war just to our north and the tension between Russia and Ukraine, demographic risks caused by migration consisting of people fleeing from the terrorist statelets being attempted to be established to our south and leaders who persecute their own people, our families forced to live in chicken coops by being crammed into tiny apartment flats, local administrations and contractors who cause the environment to be filled with studio-type apartments out of greed for profit, families who cannot be fed as they should due to increasing food security and supply risks, international pressures that force producer families in agriculture and animal husbandry, market-distorting monopolies and malicious market actors that affect household economies, and a society that has become lonely as a result of factors that threaten reproductive health."

CONTENT OF THE WORKSHOP

Providing information about the content of the workshop, Yurdakul said that they decided to put the family institution on the table under 12 different sub-topics, primarily "risks brought by social and demographic changes and the family" and "digital addiction, substance addiction and the family," within the framework of observations, survey studies, and scientific opinions.

Expressing the purpose of the workshop as "the preservation, strengthening, and preparation of the family institution for the future," Yurdakul said, "The vision of the Turkish and Turkish Century can only be built on the peace, unity, prosperity, and strength of families."

Emphasizing that the family institution is facing increasing social problems and threats due to the influence of global dynamics, Yurdakul recalled Chairman Bahçeli's words: "The Turkish family structure is today exposed to the attack and multi-front destruction of mass communication tools. Undoubtedly, we must develop legal measures against this and protect our social fabric, national culture, and core values."

Pointing out that the family institution, whose unity and prosperity have been damaged, is facing many difficulties, Yurdakul concluded his words as follows:

"The Turkish nation is one of the most dynamic nations in history and the one that can adapt most quickly to conditions, but considering the number and effectiveness of the threats, the political institution must focus on the Turkish nation and the Turkish family structure in this age of change and transformation and take all necessary precautions. Risks under the name of change and transformation are about to hit the shores of the Turkish nation as a great wave. History has brought to the agenda the responsibility of developing proactive policies so that we can stand firm and fortify our shores. Under these circumstances and conditions, history imposes a responsibility on all of us."

TO BE PRESENTED TO CHAIRMAN BAHÇELİ

Within the scope of the workshop, 12 topics will be addressed by academics, politicians, NGO and association representatives, business people, and experts in the field. A declaration to be prepared regarding the subject of the workshop, which will conclude tomorrow, will be presented to Chairman Devlet Bahçeli.

MHP Deputy Chairmen İsmail Özdemir, Mevlüt Karakaya, and İsmail Faruk Aksu, as well as some MHP deputies and Central Executive Board (MYK) members, and Deputy Minister of Family and Social Services Yavuz Selim Kıran also attended the workshop.
