MHP front hits back at Ümit Özdağ: 'He might be keeping a ministry bargain in his pocket'

Yıldıray Çiçek, press advisor to MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, made notable assessments regarding Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ in his latest column.

Çiçek targeted the statements Özdağ made recently on the program "Tatava Yok," hosted by Şule Aydın on Onlar TV.

HE REMINDED OF ÖZDAĞ'S 2015 ELECTION REMARK

Speaking on the program, Özdağ had made the following statements regarding the 2015 election process:

"In the June 2015 elections, I was elected as an MHP deputy for Gaziantep. I ran again in November. We were seeing the field, it was going very badly. Bahçeli held his final rally in Adana. I called a friend from Adana and asked, 'How was the speech?' and he said, 'Honestly, Professor, we were afraid he was going to ask for votes for the AKP.'"

Carrying these words into his column, Çiçek used harsh expressions toward Özdağ.

"HE IS SOMEONE ASSIGNED TO TARGET THE MHP"

In his article, Yıldıray Çiçek wrote, "The MHP must have created a severe trauma for such individuals. There is probably nothing as shameful and embarrassing as asking for votes for the CHP. As the true owner of this shame, go play elsewhere, Ümit Özdağ."

In the continuation of his statements, Çiçek made the following assessment:

"These types, whose games are ruined and who are disgraced whenever they attempt to seize the MHP in politics, have never been able to achieve a healthy psychology due to constantly chasing revenge. Someone who produces a scenario for himself from 2015 and attacks the MHP is someone who has been assigned to target the MHP. There is no need to even debate this."

"SUPPORT IN EXCHANGE FOR THE MINISTRY OF INTERIOR" ALLEGATION

In the remainder of his column, Çiçek also brought up Özdağ's stance prior to the presidential elections.

Claiming that Özdağ had previously said he could support the AK Party in exchange for being given the Ministry of Interior and some critical institutions by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Çiçek used the following expressions:

"Oh, and lest I forget; didn't Ümit Özdağ, who uttered the sentence 'We were afraid he was going to ask for votes for the AKP,' openly say before the last presidential elections that he would support the AK Party in exchange for being given the Ministry of Interior and some critical institutions by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan? Do not think we are as forgetful as you, Ümit Özdağ... We really know your true colors very well."

"HE CALLED ON THE CHP, HE MIGHT ALSO BE KEEPING A BARGAIN WITH THE AK PARTY"

In the final part of his article, touching upon the calls Özdağ made to the opposition, Çiçek stated:

"Couldn't Ümit Özdağ, who called on the CHP just a month ago by saying 'Let's come together on a broad national alliance platform,' also be keeping a ministry bargain in his pocket with the AK Party?"
