MHP had objected: CHP wins Kütahya election again
In Kütahya, where the CHP won on the night of March 31, invalid votes were recounted following an objection by the MHP. CHP's Eyüp Kahveci won the election again with a margin of 571 votes.
As the March 31 Local Elections are left behind, political parties continue to object to the results.
While CHP candidate Eyüp Kahveci won the election in Kütahya with 29.25 percent of the vote, the Central District Election Board decided to recount the invalid votes upon the MHP's objection.
The 5,659 invalid votes in 549 ballot boxes were recounted. As a result of the count, which lasted approximately 13 hours, the vote count for CHP candidate Eyüp Kahveci rose to 40,739, MHP candidate Alim Işık's to 40,168, and AKP candidate Kamil Saraçoğlu's to 38,146. The margin between CHP candidate Kahveci and MHP candidate Işık fell from 602 to 571.
In the recounted invalid votes, AKP candidate Kamil Saraçoğlu's vote count increased by 154, Alim Işık's by 58, and CHP candidate Eyüp Kahveci's by 27, and the result of the recount did not change the outcome.
In the March 31 local elections in Kütahya, where 137,111 votes were counted as valid and 5,659 as invalid, CHP candidate Eyüp Kahveci had received 40,712 votes, MHP candidate Alim Işık 40,110 votes, and AKP candidate Kamil Saraçoğlu 37,992 votes.
