MHP's Semih Yalçın criticizes CHP! 'A blow to democracy...'

MHP Deputy Chairman Semih Yalçın made statements regarding the process that began with the detention and arrest of IMM Mayor İmamoğlu. 

In his statement, Yalçın said, "As a nation, we are watching with great dismay and astonishment the anti-democratic theater staged by the CHP leadership after the independent judiciary stepped in to investigate the lawlessness and corruption that have become rampant in our largest metropolis, particularly in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality." He argued that the CHP leadership "has failed to maintain a dignified stance, adopting an attitude as if it wants to cover up the injustice it supposedly suffered with noise and chaos."

"GIGANTIC WRONG STEPS..."

MHP's Semih Yalçın stated, "Instead of responding with a policy dominated by composure and moderation, the CHP has chosen harshness and violence. Instead of common sense and coolness, a wave of panic and suspicion has engulfed the CHP. The CHP leadership has exhibited a violent reactivity prematurely, without calculating where the accusations and allegations against the party might lead. The gigantic wrong steps taken by the CHP-run municipalities at the center of the accusations and suspicions have dragged the party into this deep impasse." 

Arguing that the CHP leadership has created "an election and presidential candidacy issue out of nowhere" despite elections having recently been held in Turkey, and is "fueling fluctuations" within the party, Yalçın said, "Being in a hurry to determine a presidential candidate as if trying to save goods from a fire has not only deepened the shadow of tutelage over the party but has also drawn deep suspicions upon the CHP." 

"THE FIRE OF SUSPICION HAS FALLEN UPON ALL CHP ORGANIZATIONS"

Claiming that a "shadow of tutelage" has fallen upon the CHP and a "fire of suspicion" has fallen upon all its organizations, including its municipalities, Yalçın said, "Both the voters and the members of this party are uncomfortable with the amateurism, incompetence, and political immaturity of the CHP leadership." 

Claiming that CHP spokespeople "are seeking solutions in the streets and in violent acts in the face of what is happening in their municipalities," Yalçın continued his statement as follows: 

"When the CHP is caught in the vortex of major and complex problems, its spokespeople have exhausted the power and value of words, and have consumed the paths to solutions from the very beginning.

Hasn't the CHP's traditional understanding of politics always been like this?

It is also futile for CHP spokespeople to blame the government for the judiciary's legal actions regarding the municipalities in Istanbul.

In fact, the CHP is suffering the consequences of its own internal conflicts.

Those who want the corruption in CHP municipalities to be investigated and those who complain about the CHP are members of the same community.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, as if wanting to sweep this painful truth under the rug, is passing the buck and bombarding those who have nothing to do with the subject with slander and accusations.

Özel prefers to gain by clashing rather than being held accountable before the law.

Özgür Özel, who manages the CHP amateurishly and incompetently, is dealing a blow to social peace and public tranquility under the pretext that a coup is being staged against the party."

Claiming that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel "wants to disrupt sensitive economic balances by creating an atmosphere of uncertainty and pessimism," Yalçın said, "The head of the CHP prefers illegitimate action, the street, tension, and fighting instead of benefiting from the blessings of democracy. Instead of inviting the courts to justice and being a follower of the principle of the rule of law, he has invited crowds to the streets. CHP Chairman Özgür Özel's call for party members to take to the streets is not because he is right, but because of his fear and suspicion. Because those who manage the CHP have doubts about their own integrity." 

"WHY IS THE CHP FOCUSED ON MAKING THE STREETS ITS HOME INSTEAD OF SEEKING A SOLUTION IN PARLIAMENT?"

Claiming that CHP leader Özel "is not sure that the allegations against party-run municipalities will be proven false, and has doubts that they will be cleared," MHP's Yalçın said, "In short, the CHP is the same old CHP.

The following question is being wondered by the public: Where have the blessings of democracy, which CHP spokespeople never stop talking about, gone? Why is the CHP focused on making the streets its home instead of seeking a solution in Parliament? Why has the CHP shelved the principle of the rule of law? Why is the CHP not seeking solutions through democratic traditions?" 

"THE CLIMATE OF PEACE HAS BEEN DELIBERATELY SABOTAGED"

Stating that "the peace of our nation has been deliberately disturbed, and the climate of peace has been consciously sabotaged," Yalçın concluded his statement as follows: 

The CHP has surrendered to opportunistic marginal groups.

After the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and his team, a new situation has emerged.

From today on, a tough test of democracy and law awaits the CHP.

What is expected from the CHP leadership from now on is to display a cool-headed, calm, dignified, and democratic attitude.

As our Chairman Mr. Devlet Bahçeli also emphasized, the CHP must respect judicial decisions.

Will the CHP continue to do what it has always done—rely on tutelage, violence, dynamiting public peace, and setting the streets on fire—or will it choose common sense and moderation?

We will patiently continue our efforts to protect the sensitive balances that give life to our democracy, to ensure that the great accumulation of our Republic is not wasted, and to preserve the rule of law."
