Minister Tekin responds to 'new curriculum' questions: 'They should read it before criticizing'

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin answered questions from journalists before the AK Party Parliamentary Group Meeting.

Upon a question regarding the demands of teachers working in the private sector concerning wages and working conditions, Tekin said, "We are in talks with private school representatives on these issues. We are trying to produce solutions that will not victimize our teacher colleagues. What we ask of them is to produce solutions that will not victimize teachers in private schools."

In response to the question, "The new curriculum has been approved. Education unions are debating it. How do you evaluate the issue that Atatürk's name is not mentioned in the preliminary explanation of the curriculum?" Tekin replied, "I advise them to criticize by reading it. Not without reading our programs."

Minister Tekin also gave the following advice to students who will be going on summer break and their families upon a question:

"I wish for our children to spend the summer months on vacation. I desire for them to have a wonderful holiday by reading outside of school and lessons, engaging in other types of activities, social activities, artistic activities, and seeing the beauties of our country. I also advise parents to look at and guide their children, our students, in this way. This is also a part of education."
