Minister Tekin’s ‘Terror-Free Turkey’ message in Batman: The Grand National Assembly has done its part, now the ball is in our court

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin made evaluations regarding the “Terror-Free Turkey” process during the “Century of Turkey Meetings” program he attended in Batman. Stating that the necessary steps regarding the process have been taken in the Parliament, Tekin said that in the next stage, civil society and public authorities must assume responsibility.

Coming to the city for various contacts, Tekin visited the Batman Governorship, signed the Governorship Honor Book, and met with Governor Ekrem Canalp. Minister Tekin later attended the program organized by the AK Party Provincial Presidency at the Turkish Petroleum Corporation campus's Kristal Park Social Facilities.

In his speech, Tekin stated that the AK Party attaches importance to consultation in its political understanding, and noted that within the scope of field studies carried out under the instruction of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, ministers, deputies, and organization members have been listening to citizens in 81 provinces, and the prepared reports have been forwarded to the relevant authorities.

Expressing that one of the main agendas of this year's meetings is the “Terror-Free Turkey” process, Tekin pointed to the importance of the Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration being accepted and enacted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

''The Grand National Assembly of Turkey and our deputies have done their part. Now the ball is in our court. It is in our court as civil society and public authority. We must be vigilant against those who are looking for opportunities to manipulate.''

Emphasizing that everyone should contribute to the process, which he stated was initiated by President Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, Tekin said, “Let us all take ownership of it together, let us all put our hands under this stone. Let us all take ownership of this process together and do our part for this process to reach a successful conclusion and for our country to reach the point we desire.”

Minister Tekin also touched upon the problems experienced in Turkey in the past regarding democratization and fundamental rights and freedoms. He argued that the anti-democratic practices and tutelage attempts experienced since the 1990s made it difficult for democracy and rights and freedoms to strengthen.

AK Party Batman Provincial Chairman Hüseyin Şansi also stated in his speech at the program that Turkey is going through a historical process, and said that the process is important in terms of the efficient use of public resources and the end of loss of life.

The program was also attended by AK Party Erzurum Deputy Fatma Öncü, AK Party Istanbul Deputy Hulusi Şentürk, AK Party Şanlıurfa Deputy Mehmet Faruk Pınarbaşı, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
