Minister Tunç went on Hajj while the 10th Judicial Package was being discussed: His deputies did not attend the meeting either!

Discussions on the legislative proposal regarding execution and a disguised amnesty at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey were concluded in the absence of Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.

The discussions began at 16:00 the day before and ended at 07:00 the following day. Minister Tunç's failure to attend the meeting drew reactions from the opposition.

According to the report by Sözcü, opposition parties asked, "Where is the Minister?" but received no response. It was later learned that Minister Tunç was in Saudi Arabia to perform his Hajj pilgrimage. CHP Kahramanmaraş Deputy Ali Öztunç expressed his criticism by saying, "The Minister has gone on Hajj, may God accept it; this situation shows how seriously the legislative proposal is being taken."

Öztunç also stated that the deputy ministers did not attend the meeting, adding, "The fact that not even a deputy minister is here makes one question the seriousness of the legislative proposal." AKP Justice Commission Chairman Cüneyt Yüksel responded by saying, "The sponsors of our legislative proposal attended the commission meeting; there is no disrespect involved in this regard."
