Model Simurg Sarsılmaz, who was a candidate for the headmanship of Kaynartepe Neighborhood in the local elections to be held on March 31 in Diyarbakır, has announced her withdrawal from the candidacy.
Sarsılmaz, a model who is the face of local companies producing in Diyarbakır Tekstilkent, had become a candidate for the Kaynartepe Neighborhood headmanship.
"I HAVE RECEIVED DEATH THREATS FROM HUNDREDS OF FAKE ACCOUNTS"
Speaking to Amida Haber, Sarsılmaz stated that she had received death threats following the news of her candidacy and that she had decided to give up on running for headman. Stating that she would file a criminal complaint regarding the threats, Sarsılmaz said, "I announced my candidacy with good intentions to serve the neighborhood where I was born and raised. I finished the poster work yesterday and was going to start campaigning today.
However, due to the news reports, I have received death threats from hundreds of fake accounts. My mental state is very poor right now; I am only able to stand with the help of medication. I will go to the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office tomorrow to file a criminal complaint against those who threatened me," she said.
