Memleket Party Chairman Muharrem İnce responded to a post by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) which stated, "Are there not people who have forgotten that they came from the Balkans, and whose hair stands on end when they hear 'Arab' or 'Arabic'? We will drive you out, we will send you away; are there not movements in Turkey that even block tourists coming from the Middle East? Racism is forbidden in our religion."

Muharrem İnce’s 'Balkans' response to Ali Erbaş

Reacting to the statements made in the post from the Presidency of Religious Affairs' account, Memleket Party Chairman İnce gave a response that drew attention to the remarks used regarding the Balkans.

Starting his words by saying, 'We have not forgotten that we came from the Balkans,' İnce used the following expressions:

“We have not forgotten that we came from the Balkans. Just as we did not forget that we were Turkish while in the Balkans. We have not forgotten those who stabbed us in the back in history. Just as we will not forget the betrayals committed today tomorrow.”
