Murat Kurum’s live PR program: Military memories and hobbies asked, Palestine question censored

The fact that AKP’s Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) mayoral candidate Murat Kurum remains behind CHP’s candidate Ekrem İmamoğlu in the polls has led the AKP to implement new tactics. The latest of these tactics was a PR program for Murat Kurum on a live Habertürk broadcast. The other guests on the program ‘Nedir Ne Değildir’, hosted by Mehmet Akif Ersoy, were Orhan Gencebay and Aslı Şafak.

In the program, which he attended wearing a red sweater and jeans, Murat Kurum was asked about his private life, military memories, hobbies, how he proposed to his wife, and his favorite foods and desserts. Questions were also taken from the audience in the studio. Before handing over the microphone, Mehmet Akif Ersoy warned the audience, “no politics, we are talking about life.” A woman named Esra, who took the microphone, was interrupted while trying to ask Kurum, “What will you do for Palestine and Gaza when you win the election?” Ersoy took the microphone from the woman who wanted to ask the question, saying, “Can you give the microphone back immediately, please?” Afterwards, the question asked to Kurum was, “Do you have a family WhatsApp group?” Upon hearing this question, Ersoy said, “Ha, come to us with these things.”
