Murat Yetkin's 'White House' commentary: 'It's a good thing Erdoğan didn't go'

Journalist and author Murat Yetkin, pointing to the postponement of the visit that President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was expected to make to the US on May 9, wrote: "It's a good thing he didn't go. I am not saying this because of its connection to the F-16 sales agreement that Turkey signed and put into effect yesterday. According to the information I received from defense sources, there was no delay; it was already proceeding 'in accordance with its schedule'."

Noting that Erdoğan could have found an opportunity at the White House to condemn Israel and support Palestine, Yetkin stated: "Perhaps Biden and his team had already regretted that invitation, taking this possibility into account. But it is likely that such an opportunity would not have been useful, nor would it have been an action that served Turkey's political interests, including those within NATO."
