Remarkable statement from Müsavat Dervişoğlu regarding Erdoğan's potential re-candidacy: 'Just because he will run again...'
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu made a statement regarding the debates over the potential re-candidacy of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the event of an early election.
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu made statements regarding the current agenda.
Responding to questions from İsmail Küçükkaya on Halk TV, Dervişoğlu spoke about the re-candidacy of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the debates surrounding early elections.
Stating, "In my opinion, this government is finished," Dervişoğlu drew attention to the economic crisis.
Dervişoğlu spoke as follows regarding the early election debates on the agenda:
“If you mention an early election, you must immediately demand an election. Turkey has just emerged from an election; the government, which has been in power for 22 years, is hiding behind rhetoric as if it has just started its job in this election. If the government cannot manage this country, the conclusion to be drawn from this picture is that a new government is needed. This cannot be something spread out over a long period. Let me demand an early election today; Mr. Özel should not take offense at my expressions. I cannot view an election whose calendar is determined by Tayyip Erdoğan as an early election.”
"I HAVE NO CONCERNS THAT ERDOĞAN WILL RUN AGAIN"
Speaking about Erdoğan's re-candidacy, Dervişoğlu said, “I do not have any concerns that the President will run again for the sake of the election. If it is an election, we are ready for the election on the nearest calendar.”
Dervişoğlu continued as follows:
"I FIND ELECTION CALLS SPECULATIVE"
“If they are creating a roadmap to arrange the calendar just because I am the leading party or another says I am the government, we find that speculative. From the very beginning, I have found calls for early elections to be speculative. This is not an invitation to an election, but an invitation to a duel.
Whoever the candidate is, according to our Constitution, the President is elected twice; Mr. Tayyip was elected for the third time. The upcoming term will be the fourth. If an early election is called by the parliament, he becomes a candidate; so be it. The YSK (Supreme Election Council) showed tolerance toward Mr. Tayyip's candidacy. He should not have been able to run in this election either. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan must leave by experiencing an election defeat."
