Müsavat Dervişoğlu reacts to veterans being removed from Güvenpark: 'I find the timing suspicious'
İYİ Party leader Müsavat Dervişoğlu condemned the intervention against rank-and-file veterans and relatives of martyrs who were removed from their sit-in protest at Güvenpark.
İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu has reacted to the police intervention that removed rank-and-file veterans and relatives of rank-and-file martyrs from Güvenpark in Ankara, where they were holding a sit-in protest.
The relatives of martyrs and rank-and-file veterans were removed from the area in the early hours of the morning on the 38th day of their sit-in at Güvenpark. Following the intervention by police teams, the veterans and families of the martyrs were taken to the Veterans' Guesthouse (Gazi Uyumevi). It was reported that the park has been closed off with barriers.
In a statement on his social media account, Dervişoğlu stated that he condemned the action and used the following expressions:
''I condemn the treatment deemed appropriate for our Heroic Veterans who were seeking their rights at Güvenpark, and I find it suspicious in terms of both timing and implementation. Abandon practices that touch the nation's raw nerves and wound its conscience.''
Speaking after being removed from Güvenpark, Erdem Çerçioğlu, Chairman of the Association of Martyrs' Families and Veterans, said that the group had been left at the Veterans' Guesthouse. Çerçioğlu stated that the park had been blockaded and that entry was prohibited.
