Müsavat Dervişoğlu: The true owner of the hand extended to DEM is Erdoğan

İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu met with Democrat Party Chairman Gültekin Uysal at his office in the İYİ Party headquarters.

Following the meeting, a joint press conference was held, during which Dervişoğlu was asked about MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli walking over to the DEM Party benches to shake hands with their deputies during the first session of the Turkish Grand National Assembly's new legislative year, as well as claims that a new solution process might begin.

"THE TRUE OWNER OF THE HAND IS ERDOĞAN"

Claiming that the actual person who extended a hand to the DEM Party is AKP President Erdoğan, Dervişoğlu said:

“There are various rumors regarding the subject, and I do not find it appropriate to make an assessment before positive data and statements are presented to us. But Mr. Devlet Bahçeli has extended a hand to DEM. This is not a scene that has happened for the first time in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. First of all, I want you to know this. But the interesting thing here is this; Mr. Bahçeli stated that he was influenced by Mr. Tayyip's speech and took it upon himself to perform that handshake. From my perspective, the hand extended to DEM may have been extended by Devlet Bahçeli, but the true owner of that hand is Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.”

"I DO NOT WANT TO BE A TOOL FOR THIS SPECULATION"

Stating that he does not want to make unfounded comments regarding potential claims of a solution process, Dervişoğlu concluded the meeting by saying, “What you are mentioning is being discussed on social media, in newspaper pages, and in television commentary. As long as there is no official statement, I do not want to be a tool for this speculation. But, of course, we are making our own assessments.”
