Mustafa Sandal has expressed his support for Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who was detained following an investigation launched by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for "insulting the President." The famous singer shared a photo of Özdağ taken in front of a portrait of Atatürk.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had launched an investigation into remarks made by Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his party's provincial chairs consultation meeting held on January 19.
Following the news of the investigation, Özdağ was detained in Ankara in the evening hours. Many political and famous figures also reacted to Özdağ's sudden detention.
