CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül made a statement on his social media account regarding the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Stating that the allegations against him do not reflect the truth, Sarıgül said, "There is not even a single penny I cannot account for."
Sarıgül stated that he has been involved in politics since 1975 and has lived in the public eye for nearly 50 years. Noting that he has worked as a salaried employee, served as a civil servant, engaged in trade, and held public office as a mayor and member of parliament, Sarıgül said he has undergone numerous audits during his time in business and as mayor.
Reminding that he submitted a declaration of assets as an MP following the 2023 elections, Sarıgül argued that the allegations that led to the opening of the investigation were based on "fake bank receipts, fake notary certifications, and contracts and documents prepared through fraud."
The receipts are fake. A 100-euro receipt has been altered to 100 million euros. The companies claimed to have been established were not established. There is not even 1 euro that has been brought into Turkey or taken out of Turkey.

In his statement, Sarıgül indicated that contacts between himself or his family members and the individuals in question were terminated before they could become official. Stating, "There is no public loss here, nor is there any loss suffered by these individuals," Sarıgül expressed that they were sent certain documents via email and WhatsApp, but they did not bow to these attempts.
Sarıgül alleged that when these individuals could not get results, they contacted journalist Murat Ağırel. Stating that Ağırel was suspicious of the allegations and documents that reached him and wanted to verify them, Sarıgül said that a complaint was subsequently filed against himself, his family members, and Ağırel.
Stating that he is "extremely saddened" that journalist Murat Ağırel's name was dragged into the investigation and that he was arrested, Sarıgül expressed that this is "a very great injustice." Sarıgül concluded his statement by saying that they will not lose their faith in democracy, justice, and the rule of law.
