Mustafa Sarıgül’s notable remarks on Kılıçdaroğlu: ‘He won’t put the CHP in a difficult position…’
CHP Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül stated that former chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would not engage in any behavior that would put the CHP in a difficult position. Sarıgül said, "Mr. Özgür Özel is also careful about his relationship with Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu. There is no problem at all."
Republican People's Party (CHP) Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül made evaluations regarding the current debates on a new constitution, the results of the March 31 Local Elections, and the economic crisis.
Speaking to Saygı Öztürk from Sözcü, Sarıgül stated that the AKP government has failed to manage the economy well and has passed the bill on to the public, saying, "Every day there is a price hike on something, and when it comes, it comes in full. After governing the country alone for 22 years, they still cannot find any way other than price hikes. They could not manage the economy, their power was not enough to handle the wealthy. They reached their hands into the poor's table once again," he said.
"CITIZENS ARE BOTH UNHAPPY AND HOPELESS"
Emphasizing that Turkey's salvation lies in economic nationalism, Sarıgül stated, "That is, to revitalize the Turkish farmer, not the Russian, Canadian, or American farmer. The citizen is constantly in anxiety and worry; their face does not smile. Can a person who cannot feed their child be happy? The lifeblood of the economy is trust and the rule of law. The state is not a company. It is obliged to protect the poor and find jobs for the unemployed. Merit and justice in the state, nationalism in the economy, production in the fields and factories, and honest management in the public sector. ‘If we feed the rich, the poor will be fed; it is not the poor who are insatiable, but the rich who are insatiable,'" he expressed.
"THEY ARE BUSY WITH CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS"
Speaking about the new constitution debates, Sarıgül continued as follows:
"I know the public's agenda. I look at the agenda of those who govern the country, and I am surprised and saddened. They are busy with constitutional amendments. They look at 10 million of Turkey's 85 million and say, ‘Everything is fine.’ Unemployment is a serious problem, the vast majority of workers are on minimum wage below the hunger threshold, they poured concrete on mountains and stones, but we are experiencing a housing problem. Inflation makes the rich richer and drives the poor to starvation. Inflation takes from the poor and gives to the rich.
"THE TBMM IS BEING IGNORED"
Sovereignty belongs unconditionally to the nation. The TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey) is the manifestation of the national will and the heart of the democratic regime. The issue I am most sensitive about is protecting the reputation of the TBMM. The TBMM cannot be ignored. The TBMM has the authority to oversee the executive branch. A member of parliament uses this authority by submitting a parliamentary question. I asked, ‘What activities did you carry out for the 100th anniversary of our Republic?’ and they gave an unserious answer. The interest our people showed in the Republic celebrations made me very happy and moved me. The Republic has been embraced by everyone. The Turkish nation is heart and soul attached to the Republic and its founder, the great Atatürk. The Republic is not ownerless. They have made the institution of politics insignificant and the Parliament a notary."
Stating that 'Hope, a lesson, and a cry' emerged from the ballot box in the March 31 Local Elections, Sarıgül said, "This cry is most of all the cry of the retiree. The curse of the retiree will bring down the government! The voter gave their warning through the ballot box. They said, ‘Stop the dirty tricks and the war of words, produce solutions. Do not turn politics into hostility; do not engage in bickering, but in negotiation politics. Engage in the politics of jobs, bread, equality, justice, brotherhood, and peace.’ In other words, the message from the ballot box is: The normalization of politics," he said.
"THE DUTY FALLING UPON US ALL IS TO SUPPORT ÖZGÜR ÖZEL"
Making statements to the media about his party as well, the Erzincan MP summarized the messages he gave as follows:
“Those who manage the party should be like a stonemason; stonemasons do not waste stone. They try to make use of every stone and keep them together. Even if we followed different attitudes at the party congress, we are all CHP members, we are all on the side of Turkey. The duty that falls to us is to stand behind the administration and make our party successful. This is the duty of all CHP members.
Now, the duty that falls upon us all is to support our Chairman Özgür Özel. Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu will not engage in any behavior that would put the CHP in a difficult position, and Mr. Özgür Özel is also careful about his relationship with Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu. There is no problem at all. It is the voter who wants Mr. Özgür Özel to meet with Mr. Erdoğan. On March 31, the voter called on politicians to normalize and become reasonable. They withdrew their support from parties that turned politics into hostility. Because of polarization, we cannot talk about our real problems."
