Mustafa Şentop's commentary on past elections: 'We lost because we couldn't control the ballot boxes'
Former AKP Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) Mustafa Şentop attended the "People's Alliance Jurists Iftar Program" held in Bursa. There, Şentop made comments regarding why his party lost certain elections.
Former AKP Speaker of the TBMM Mustafa Şentop gave a speech at the "People's Alliance Jurists Iftar Program" held in Bursa.
Mustafa Şentop said, "Our President also used to say that elections are won at the ballot box. We have seen examples of this recently. We lost some elections because we could not control the ballot boxes".
"BECAUSE WE COULD NOT CONTROL THE BALLOT BOXES..."
Reminding that there are only a few days left until the local elections, Şentop spoke as follows:
"On election day, neither our President, nor Mr. Bahçeli, nor the members of parliament will be working on behalf of the party. On Sunday, only our friends assigned to the ballot boxes will be working on behalf of the party. Our motto, as our President has said before, is that elections are won at the ballot box. We have seen examples of this recently as well. We have gone through very critical elections. We lost some elections because we could not control the ballot boxes" he said.
"A PERIOD WILL CLOSE IN TURKEY"
We are talking about a short-term but highly significant task. With this election, a period will close in Turkey. What will happen? With the new system, the process we initiated after the 2018 elections will be established in Turkey. Everyone will be in their own place, in their own home. Our nation is aware of this. After this period closes, hopefully, Turkey will enter a new political era and atmosphere with this election. After this election, everything will begin to fall into place in the coming years"
