According to a report in Gazete Duvar; the AKP front is determined to attempt both paths to enable Erdoğan to run again. It has been learned that in the event that there is no constitutional amendment and the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) does not decide on early elections, various formulas and names are being discussed in AKP corridors for the post-Erdoğan era.

It is being discussed that if Erdoğan cannot run again, he will not leave politics and will continue to serve as the chairman of his party in that scenario.

Those who say that Erdoğan, as the AKP Chairman, will put forward a strong presidential candidate and closely follow the campaign efforts respond to the question “Who will be the candidate?” by saying, “There are very experienced and effective names in the party.”

NAMES STANDING OUT FOR THE POST-ERDOĞAN ERA

Among these names, the first to be mentioned is Erdoğan’s son-in-law, Selçuk Bayraktar. It is also being discussed that current Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who has recently come to the fore, could be candidates in such a situation. Party members state that if Erdoğan’s candidacy is not possible, different names may also come to the agenda over time.
