NATO Summit protest in Pazar, Rize: 'No to NATO' march by civil society organizations

An anti-NATO march was held in the Pazar district of Rize with the participation of various political parties and civil society organizations. Protesters gathered in front of the Pazar Municipality to express their opposition to the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara.

The group, which included members of the All Retirees Union (Tüm Emeklilerin Sendikası), Halkevleri, CHP, SOL Party, the Association for Kemalist Thought (ADD), and Eğitim Sen, marched to Cumhuriyet Square while chanting slogans.

Making a statement in the square, CHP Pazar District Chair Ömer Hocaoğlu stated that Turkey joined NATO to ensure its security, arguing that at the point reached today, NATO has ceased to be a security organization.

However, today Turkey is forced to protect itself from NATO. NATO is no longer a security organization; it has become a colonial organization for imperialists.

Hocaoğlu stated that recent developments have made this contradiction visible, saying, "Turkey joined NATO for its security, but today NATO has become a threat to the country."

Yaşar Çalışkan from the SOL Party also described NATO as a "war organization" in his statement. Stating that the Middle East and the Black Sea are being reshaped, Çalışkan claimed that the role assigned to Turkey in this process is to act in line with the interests of the USA.

The task given to Turkey in this process is to act in line with America's interests. There are individuals, parties, and structures that accept this situation.
