New authority for Erdoğan accepted in the Grand National Assembly: He will be able to extend the age limit

The proposal regarding amendments to certain laws and Decree-Law No. 375 has been accepted in the General Assembly of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). With this regulation, the age limit for generals and admirals appointed as force commanders has been raised to 67, while the President has been granted the authority to extend this limit up to the age of 72.

WHAT DO THE NEW REGULATIONS BRING?

With the new law, the requirement for combat class personnel currently holding the ranks of major general, rear admiral, brigadier general, and commodore to complete the command and staff training at force war institutes in order to be promoted to lieutenant general and vice admiral has been removed. Personnel who have successfully completed war academy training will also be considered to have completed the command and staff training at force war institutes.
