New development in IMM investigation: Gift cards found in his office

Another development has occurred in the corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in which Ekrem İmamoğlu is also among the suspects.

It has emerged that 4,500 grocery store shopping vouchers were found in the office of Ertan Yıldız, Chairman of the IMM Assembly Subsidiaries and Affiliated Institutions Commission, who was arrested as part of the investigation.

The statement of Yıldız's driver, Bayram Yıldırım, was taken. In his statement to the prosecutor's office, Yıldırım claimed that he found the 4,500 grocery vouchers while cleaning Yıldız's office.

While it was stated that the vouchers in question were handed over voluntarily, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Investigation Branch seized the vouchers upon the instruction of the prosecutor's office and launched an investigation.

The investigation is being conducted as part of wide-ranging corruption allegations that also involve the names of suspended IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu and some senior executives. Previously, some documents regarding the subsidiaries and affiliated institutions within the IMM had been seized, and the account activities of municipal employees had been placed under scrutiny.
