A new era at the Diyanet: Major reaction from AKP figure to Ali Erbaş

According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, a change of leadership has taken place at the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). Istanbul Provincial Mufti Prof. Dr. Safi Arpaguş has been appointed to replace Ali Erbaş, whose term has expired. Thus, the Erbaş era has officially come to an end.

AKP member Şamil Tayyar made a statement on his social media account following the appointment decision. Regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's decision not to extend Erbaş's term, he stated, "Our President did not extend Erbaş's term. He did well. The Diyanet had never been so worn down under any other president."
