Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Numan Kurtulmuş stated that the process regarding the Law on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration will be carried out with three fundamental safeguards. Kurtulmuş announced that one of these safeguards is the Monitoring Commission to be established within the Turkish Parliament.
Speaking at the 2026-2027 Academic Year opening ceremony of Selçuk University in Konya, Kurtulmuş noted that "every single word" was weighed and considered during the preparation process of the law. Kurtulmuş stated that mechanisms have been included in the law to resolve any hesitations during the implementation phase.
According to Kurtulmuş, the first safeguard will be the detection and confirmation by the state's security units that the terrorist organization has laid down its arms and disbanded itself. Stating that the law will enter into force once this situation is declared by the National Security Council, Kurtulmuş said, "This is our primary insurance for the implementation of the law."
Pointing to the board chaired by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz as the second safeguard, Kurtulmuş said that the board consists of 6 ministers and the state's top security units. Kurtulmuş noted that every issue will be negotiated in this board to determine the steps to be taken and the recommendations to be made.
Kurtulmuş announced the third safeguard as the Monitoring Commission to be established in the Parliament. Stating that the commission will be formed with the participation of political parties that have a parliamentary group, Kurtulmuş said that "the national will will take charge of the situation" to ensure the process is carried out soundly.
In his speech, Kurtulmuş also reacted to Israel's attacks on regional countries, particularly Gaza, and emphasized that Turkey will maintain its stance against developments in the region.
