New Party completes organization in 44 provinces: Critical date for transitions from CHP announced

The New Party has announced that it has entered a new phase in its establishment and organization process. While party leader Özgür Özel was chairing his party's Central Executive Board meeting in Parliament, the meeting addressed preparations for the general headquarters, the membership system, and provincial-district organizations.

Speaking after the meeting, New Party Spokesperson Zeynel Emre said that the party plans to move to its new general headquarters within two weeks. Emre stated that the membership infrastructure has been completed and that membership recruitment is expected to begin this week.

Emre noted that an application to be downloaded to phones is being prepared for membership procedures, and that both membership applications and dues payments can be made through this system.

Explaining that the process has been completed in 44 provinces and 693 districts as part of the party's organizational efforts, Emre said that approximately 200 of the 355 mayors in the CHP have also moved to the New Party. Emre expressed that this number could reach the 300s in the coming period.

REPRESENTATIVE SENT TO THE YSK

Zeynel Emre also announced that the New Party has sent Mehmet Hadimi Yakupoğlu as its representative to the Supreme Election Council (YSK). Emre stated that the AKP and CHP have objected to this step, arguing that the right to send a representative stems from the position of main opposition.

Emre stated that MHP and DEM Party representatives displayed a "correct attitude" during the process, and added that the YSK President also stated that the law is clear.

Party staff state that from now on, they will not wait for the decisions regarding the congress debates in the CHP or the expected congress lawsuit in the new judicial year. Pointing to Özel's words, "We are not going to run by looking back," the staff emphasize that the party's establishment process will be completed independently of developments in the CHP.

Within the New Party, the membership target has also been increased. Staff state that they aim to exceed the level of approximately 2 million members reached during the CHP era.

Some figures who remain in the CHP and support Özgür Özel express that the uncertainty regarding the congress process continues.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, it is assessed in circles close to Özel that transitions to the New Party may increase in the autumn months.

Responding to a question regarding the AKP's mayor transfers, Emre claimed that the ruling party would make moves aimed at showing itself as strong. Stating that they are working to maintain the majority in the Istanbul municipal council, Emre reacted to the mayors who left their party.

Özgür Özel is expected to hold the New Party's first group meeting in Parliament today at 11:30. It was reported that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who returned to the CHP leadership by court order, will hold his first group meeting at 13:30.

On the other hand, the CHP administration applied to the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and requested the return of the offices that the New Party took over from the CHP. In the application, the view was defended that the change in the number of deputies does not mean that the group spaces automatically pass to the new party.
