New party discussion in CHP: All scenarios evaluated at critical meeting

As part of the ongoing process within the Republican People's Party (CHP), the elected party leadership met at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey under the chairmanship of Chairman Özgür Özel. During the meeting, in addition to field studies, potential scenarios and legal processes regarding the formation of a new party were discussed.

According to information obtained, the meeting included a detailed evaluation of the potential effects of forming a new political party on organizations, deputies, mayors, and voters.

MESSAGE OF "WE WILL FIGHT IN THE CHP UNTIL THE LAST MOMENT"

It was learned that Özgür Özel's previous statement, "We will fight in the CHP until the last moment," was also brought up during the meeting.

It was reported that members of the elected party leadership alleged that the current administration is making expulsion decisions, failing to comply with the party charter, and disregarding legal rules.

It was stated that the aides commented, "They are officially treating us with an attitude of 'Don't stay here any longer, just leave. We can be comfortable too.' However, they are not aware that they will not be as comfortable as they calculated."

NEW PARTY SCENARIOS EVALUATED

It was stated that different options regarding the possibility of a new party were discussed at the meeting.

It was reported that the aides stated no decision had been made at this stage, but that Chairman Özgür Özel listened to all opinions.

According to information obtained, evaluations were made at the meeting regarding how a new party would be received by the public, the approach of party members, the stance of deputies, and potential societal impacts.

It was stated that the aides used the expressions, "There is no decision made for now, but our chairman is asking everyone for their opinion. He is evaluating what kind of thinking exists on the street, among members, and among deputies. We are focusing on many scenarios."

DIFFERENT VIEWS EXPRESSED FOR DEPUTY DEFECTIONS

It was learned that claims regarding how many deputies would join a newly formed party were also evaluated at the meeting.

According to the report by Sarp Sağkal from Cumhuriyet, the aides stated that many different scenarios are being discussed in the public eye and that there is misinformation.

It was stated that some individuals suggested that a limited number of deputies should move to the new party, while other deputies should continue their political struggle under the CHP umbrella.

It was reported that other views suggested that deputies should move to the new party en masse and that the formation to be established should assume the role of the main opposition in Parliament.

It was also stated that evaluations advocating the view that "The CHP has been occupied, we now need to open a new path" were made at the meeting, but that there is no finalized decision on this matter yet.

It was stated that one of the prominent evaluations at the meeting was the timing regarding the possibility of a new party.

It was reported that the aides expressed the view, "If we are still in this situation at the end of July, we will not leave the nation helpless."

LEGAL PROCESS PREPARATION FOR EXTRAORDINARY CONVENTION

The extraordinary convention process was also discussed at the meeting.

It was stated that the elected party leadership is continuing the signature collection efforts for an extraordinary convention call.

According to information obtained, it was stated that there are plans to apply to the court at the beginning of July, both for the signatures collected for the extraordinary convention and with the request to determine that the Party Assembly has collapsed due to the resignations.
