New statement from AKP's Nihat Zeybekci, who said 'The state is negligent' regarding the fund scandal

AKP Deputy Chairman and Head of Economic Affairs Nihat Zeybekci had previously stated regarding the fund crisis that "Unfortunately, the state is negligent." Zeybekci has now clarified his widely discussed remarks.

Zeybekci stated in a post on his social media account that he felt the need to make a statement after his remarks were reported as "the state is negligent."

Zeybekci's statement is as follows:

"Due to the fact that my statements regarding the fund crisis, which has occupied our country's agenda in recent days, were reported as 'the state is negligent,' the following statement has become necessary.

The state does not neglect its duty. The state sets the rules and grants authority and responsibility to the institutions that will implement them. If there is negligence, it is only committed by these institutions and those responsible. The state does what is necessary in the event of such negligence in duty and responsibility."

WHAT HAPPENED?

Sözcü columnist İsmail Saymaz had shared the details of his interview with Zeybekci regarding the fund investigation. According to Saymaz's article, Zeybekci said that four companies he is a partner in had invested in Tera's TP2 fund, for which a liquidation decision was made, and that their money remained in the fund.

Saymaz also reported that Zeybekci held regulatory institutions responsible for what happened and said, "Unfortunately, the state is negligent." It was stated that Zeybekci said he was one of the 455 thousand 758 victims in the fund crisis.
