Nihat Zeybekci defends the economy: We have recovered the economy, inflation will be well below 20 percent in 2025

AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci gave a speech at the AKP Burdur Central District Congress held at the Burdur Teachers' House Conference Hall. Stating that the AKP was given the role of opposition in the March 31 elections, Zeybekci said, "We are in the opposition in local governments, but on May 23 of last year, this nation looked at the crooked table of 3, 5, 8, or whatever number of parties across from us, looked at the terrorist organizations running around in the middle and the other terrorist organizations under the table, and said, 'Oh no, here the subject is the homeland; if the subject is the homeland, the rest is detail. Our vote is for Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.'"

EYT IS AN ECONOMIC EARTHQUAKE

Saying that the AKP was forced to enact the EYT (Retirement Age Regulation), Nihat Zeybekci said, "The cost of EYT this year is over 800 billion liras. In 2025, it will be around 1.2 trillion. Do you know what the burden brought by EYT in 2024 alone means? God forbid, we are experiencing two earthquakes every year, similar to the February 6 earthquakes, which were the greatest in our history and human history; economically, just because of EYT."

WE HAVE RECOVERED THE ECONOMY

Defending that the economy has recovered, AKP Deputy Chairman Nihat Zeybekci continued his words as follows: "People who do nothing make no mistakes. We have done a lot of work. Of course, we have had our mistakes and our errors. At the point we have reached today, in the fight against inflation, we expect it to be around 41 by the end of this year, with a target of around 38 or 39. Around this time in 2025, inflation in Turkey will be well below 20 percent.

When we reach the summer of 2026, inflation in Turkey will be at 10 percent or below. Regarding tight monetary policy, the views of our Chairman, our President, as the AK Party economic affairs team, are also in this direction. The real fight against inflation is not through monetary measures.

Increasing interest rates so that money goes from demand to the bank is the first step to be taken; it is correct and we support it. But what should really be done in the fight against inflation is to increase products, production, employment, and the goods on the shelves, in shops, and in the markets. This is how you fight inflation; there is no other way."
