No surprises in CHP's stronghold: Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu disappointed in Kadıköy

Fatih Mehmet Maçoğlu, the Mayor of Tunceli known as the 'Communist Mayor', became the TKP's mayoral candidate for Istanbul's Kadıköy district in the March 31 Local Elections.
Maçoğlu, who spoke quite confidently before the local elections, faced disappointment as the unofficial results came in.
There were no surprises in Kadıköy, known as a stronghold of the CHP. CHP's Mesut Kösedağ won the election by a wide margin with 68.71 percent of the vote. The AKP candidate Veli Arslan received 13.11 percent, while the TKP candidate Maçoğlu received 10.01 percent.
