Notable change in office after Özlem Vural Gürzel's switch to AKP

The political shift at Beykoz Municipality has taken on a new dimension with Özlem Vural Gürzel's decision to join the AKP.

Gürzel, who was elected as deputy mayor to replace Alaattin Köseler following his arrest as part of investigations into CHP-run municipalities, has also made changes to her office following her switch to the AKP.

Previously, Özlem Vural Gürzel's office featured a painting of Atatürk listening to a citizen, an image often associated with Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.

However, in photos shared during visits by AKP Istanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir and other AKP figures, it was observed that this painting had been replaced by photos of Atatürk and President Erdoğan side by side.

EFFECTS OF THE POLITICAL SHIFT

Gürzel's joining the AKP was made official when President Erdoğan pinned the party badge on her. This political change has sparked various reactions in the public eye. The changes in Gürzel's office are being interpreted as a symbolic reflection of this political transition.
