Öcalan's messages spark debate, Imralı Delegation denies claims

PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan conveyed messages regarding the organization's disarmament process and developments in Syria through his brother, Mehmet Öcalan, at Imralı Prison. Mehmet Öcalan stated that his brother said it is not possible for Kurds in Rojava to lay down their arms.

Mehmet Öcalan reported that Abdullah Öcalan said, "We have done our part; there is nothing left for us to do. Kurds in Rojava can never lay down their arms." Furthermore, it was noted that Öcalan used the expression "He is the head of ISIS, it is unclear what he will do tomorrow" regarding Ahmet Shara, the leader of the HTS administration in Syria. Öcalan also stated that the SDF could declare a Syrian Democratic Republic in Tabqa if necessary.

Following these statements, the DEM Party Imralı Delegation issued a statement declaring that the meeting notes circulating on social media, which were alleged to have taken place at Imralı, do not reflect the truth.

STATEMENT FROM THE IMRALI DELEGATION: UNTRUE CLAIMS

The delegation stated, "For some time, notes alleged to belong to meetings held on Imralı Island have been published and interpreted on social media. Meetings between Mr. Öcalan and the delegation are monitored by the public. However, speculative and baseless comments outside of the information provided by our delegation should not be given credence."

The statement included the following: "We inform the public that we consider attitudes aimed at undermining trust based on untrue and distorted documents and information as provocative attempts." Furthermore, it was emphasized that "all meetings held on Imralı Island have taken place with the participation of our delegation," and that all other claims do not reflect the truth.
