Ömer Çelik responds to 'bargaining with İmralı' claims: 'It is a very clear matter'
AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik held a press conference while the AKP Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting was ongoing to make statements regarding the current agenda.
In his statement, Çelik rejected claims that a series of bargains were being made with İmralı during the process, stating, "There is no bargaining process or give-and-take process regarding the characteristics of the state and the values of our nation."
Evaluating the process that developed following the call by terrorist organization PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to dissolve the organization and lay down arms, Çelik stated that their demands were very clear, saying, "The terrorist organization must be dissolved with all its structures in Iraq and Syria."
Çelik used the following expressions in his speech:
"We are also demonstrating that we do not accept the destabilizing attitudes of terrorist entities in terms of Iraq, Syria, and our brotherly countries in the region. The laying down of arms by the terrorist organization, the liquidation of the terrorist organization, and the dissolution of the terrorist organization with all its elements in Iraq and Syria.
Whether it is called PKK, YPG, or SDF, our fundamental approach is to remove all terrorist structures from being a destabilizing element in the region. We have put forward a strong policy of brotherhood to further strengthen the brotherhood of our Turkmen, Arab, and Kurdish brothers and sisters.
It is a very clear matter; there is no bargaining process or give-and-take process regarding the characteristics of the state and the values of our nation. The characteristics of our state and the values of our nation possess a high accumulation that encompasses all our citizens."
'WE HAVE NO ELECTION AGENDA'
When asked by journalists about an early election, Ömer Çelik stated that the MYK and MKYK do not have such an agenda at the moment.
Çelik said, "The party's highest-level bodies have not set a date regarding an election. They see that the re-election of our President is invaluable. We do not have an election agenda or date determined institutionally. As of today, the government is on duty. We have a very comprehensive agenda. We have not discussed the election issue in any way."
'THERE ARE MANY REQUESTS'
There are many requests to join our party. We have moral principles here. Our door is open to those who want to support the Century of Turkey goals. We are pleased to have our fellow travelers increase.
