Ömer Çelik responds to Özgür Özel over religious hymn

AK Party Spokesperson Ömer Çelik responded via social media to CHP leader Özgür Özel, who had criticized President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for reciting a religious hymn during the party's group meeting. In his statement, Çelik criticized Özel's political assessments, stating, "The 'political navigation' problem has reached a grave point. He continues to break his own records regarding the inaccuracy of his observations and the groundlessness of his diagnoses."

In his post, Çelik emphasized that President Erdoğan's use of words and expressions commonly used among the public during the group meeting is rooted in the AK Party's social foundations, stating the following:

"CHP Chairman Özgür Özel has criticized our President for 'reciting a hymn' at our group meeting. The CHP Chairman's 'political navigation' problem has reached a grave point. He continues to break his own records regarding the inaccuracy of his observations and the groundlessness of his diagnoses.

The AK Party is the party of the nation. The fact that our President voiced the beautiful words that are constantly on the lips of our citizens in their homes and on the streets, and the expressions that accompany the lively joy of our children in schoolyards, during our AK Party group meeting is a result of our spiritual roots.

Mr. Özgür Özel cannot understand these things because he continues a political tradition that stands out with oppression where freedom should be mentioned, and hangs signs of tutelage where the nation should be mentioned. He has difficulty understanding because only the language of the nation is spoken in the AK Party group. Happy birthday to our President, the man of the nation. May there be many more fruitful years for his journey, which is dedicated only to the nation and speaks only the language of the nation."

On the other hand, Özgür Özel had criticized President Erdoğan for reciting a hymn during his group meeting at the "The Nation Protects Its Will" rally held in Bakırköy the day before, saying:

"Today, he comes out and recites a hymn at the group meeting. That suits the mouths of those who recite hymns, that is a separate matter. But it is not a subject of politics. When you take the podium, Erdoğan, you will not recite hymns there; you will talk about ending poverty, you will talk about unemployment, you will talk about those who have their pre-dawn meal with dry bread, you will talk about those who have their iftar with social assistance, you will talk about whether you are ending unemployment."
