Opinion poll conducted: 6 candidates apply for AKP's Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality nomination

AKP Secretary General Fatih Şahin presided over the opinion poll organized by the AKP Istanbul Provincial Presidency for the March 31, 2024, local elections.

Speaking to journalists there, Şahin said that the purpose of holding the opinion poll in all 81 provinces of Turkey today was to determine the views, thoughts, and inclinations of party organization members and to utilize these opinions and suggestions in the process of determining candidates.

Şahin said, "Today, approximately 9 thousand of our organization members in Istanbul will cast their votes here and will guide us in determining our 39 district and one metropolitan mayoral candidates who will compete in the local government elections to be held on March 31, 2024."

6 CANDIDATES FOR ISTANBUL METROPOLITAN MAYORAL NOMINATION

Stating, "In our Istanbul, 255 candidates have applied for district mayoral nominations across 39 districts, and 6 candidates have applied for the metropolitan municipality nomination," Şahin added, "As the Headquarters, we are conducting a very meticulous and sensitive study to achieve the best and brightest success in the March 31 elections across our provinces, districts, and all management levels."

Noting that surveys are being conducted and the performances of incumbent mayors are being evaluated, Şahin said, "Meetings are being held with the notables and non-governmental organizations of that city or district. Their inclinations are also taken into account. All of these are combined to reach a conclusion. Since none of these are decisive on their own, these results remain within our Headquarters' working team. They are not shared with the public."
