In the extraordinary congress held last Wednesday, following the previous elections that were annulled by a court decision, Özgür Çelik was re-elected as the Istanbul Provincial Chair. In this congress, which was organized against the appointment of Gürsel Tekin as a trustee, Çelik's leadership was confirmed once again.
The Sarıyer 1st District Election Board rejected the application made to prevent Çelik and his administration from receiving their certificate of election. This decision removed all obstacles to Çelik taking over the provincial chairmanship.
After receiving his certificate, Özgür Çelik is expected to go to the former CHP Istanbul Provincial Headquarters building in Sarıyer to begin his duties.
