Özgür Çelik's take on the YSK objection process: 'We are just getting started'

CHP Istanbul Provincial Chair Özgür Çelik posted on the social media platform X regarding the conclusion of the objection processes at the YSK.

Çelik stated, “As a result, we have won the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) presidency, the majority in the municipal council, 26 district municipalities, and the majority in the Bahçelievler council. May the election results be auspicious for Istanbul and our country. With the great responsibility our people have placed upon us, we will continue our struggle for a democratic Turkey with hope, faith, and determination. We are just getting started.”

“The YSK objection processes have been completed.

The rival political party took their objections regarding the mayoralties in Gaziosmanpaşa, Beykoz, and Sancaktepe, and the council membership in Bahçelievler, to the YSK.

The YSK decided to hold a recount in Gaziosmanpaşa, while other objections were rejected. It was certified that we won the council membership (25 members) in Bahçelievler, along with our three municipalities.

Our objections regarding 5 districts were rejected at the YSK, and our objection regarding 1 district was rejected at the provincial election board.

The process unfolded this way. After the recount, the election result in Gaziosmanpaşa did not change, and our Mayor Hakan Bahçetepe took office. In Bahçelievler, after the counting of invalid votes, the council membership result did not change; we won 25 council memberships.”
