Özgür Özel: 'A CHP candidate will be elected President in the next elections'

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel visited the Marmara Adalar Municipality in Balıkesir and met with the mayor and citizens. After receiving information about the municipality's work, Özel addressed the citizens who welcomed him.

In his speech, Özel addressed AK Party and MHP voters, saying, "I have nothing to say to anyone who voted for the AK Party and MHP in the past. They are all honorable citizens of the Republic of Turkey and very valuable residents of this island. But we thank everyone, those who voted and those who did not, on March 31. The mafia's order is over, the people's order has arrived. We will serve the people."

'ERDOĞAN IS THE ONE RAISING GASOLINE PRICES'

Özel also touched upon the work of Mayor Aydın Dinçer and shared his proposed solutions regarding transportation. Stating, "We said it shouldn't be 900 liras for everyone, but 400-500 liras for the islanders," Özel emphasized that CHP mayors are working for the people instead of AK Party municipalities. Referring to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, he used the expression, "Aydın Dinçer is not the one raising gasoline prices, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is."

TURKEY WILL JOIN THE EU WITHIN 10 YEARS

Stating that the CHP's vision is to make Turkey a full member of the European Union, Özel said, "Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said to catch up with and surpass developed countries. This is our goal as well." Özel also expressed that Turkey will reach European Union standards and will reach the same level as developed countries in terms of economic power.

At the end of his speech, touching upon the upcoming general elections, Özel stated that he believes the people of Marmara Island will support the CHP as they did in the March 31 elections, adding, "In the next general elections, we will elect a CHP member as president to replace Tayyip Erdoğan."

"1 LITER OF RAKI WILL BE 140 LIRAS"

Saying "Calculate it like this 10 years from now," Özel explained the following:

"Let the salary be like today's salary. Remove a zero from the expenses. In other words, transportation is 50 liras, not 500 liras. Ground beef is 55 liras. Lamb chops are 70 liras. One liter of raki is 140 liras. That's the calculation. Now, what we are saying is this: if the purchasing power in a country increases 10-fold, the cost that is 550 liras for you today in Europe is 55 liras for them.

Or, the prices haven't changed. I didn't remove a zero from the prices. Yes, ground beef is still 550 liras, 600 liras, but the lowest pension is 125 thousand liras, not 12 thousand 500 liras. Can you imagine? When the AK Party came to power, it was 1.5 times the minimum wage; if they hadn't touched it, it would have been 26 thousand liras. Isn't it 12 thousand 500 liras now? We would be satisfied with 26 thousand liras, but the pensioner in Germany, the pensioner in France, the pensioner in the Netherlands has 10 times more purchasing power than you. Either remove a zero from the price tag and look at it that way, or imagine your salary is 10 times higher. Such a period is not far off. If Greece can achieve this, let alone that, even Hungary can achieve it; it was in the 10 thousands, it was in the 25 thousands, it has reached 30, it is heading there. That is why we will also succeed."

"I was elected as the second vice president of the Socialist International last term," said Özel, adding, "The Prime Minister of Spain is the first president. 75 countries signed under it. They say they support the goal of becoming a full member of the European Union if the CHP comes to power. France signed it, Greece signed it. Countries in the European Union signed it. This is our goal, our vision."
