Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to come together

A funeral ceremony will be held in Ankara for Olcay Baykal, the wife of former CHP Chair Deniz Baykal. Baykal’s body will be buried at the State Cemetery, next to her husband Deniz Baykal, after the funeral prayer to be performed following the noon prayer at the Karşıyaka Cemetery Mosque.

CHP Chair Özgür Özel and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu are also expected to attend the ceremony.

According to Odatv, the funeral ceremony will be held at 13.00.

Olcay Baykal’s death caused grief among her family and loved ones, as well as within the CHP community. The funeral of Olcay Baykal, Deniz Baykal’s life partner for many years, will bring together two important CHP figures at the same ceremony at a time when political debates within the party have intensified.

The report stated that debates over “nullity” regarding the CHP’s 38th Ordinary Congress were also on the agenda. According to Odatv’s report, the Ankara Regional Court of Justice’s decision regarding the congress is expected to be sent to the Court of Cassation today via PTT.

The same report included the claim that, following the decision, Özgür Özel’s administration had been dismissed and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had been appointed “provisionally.” It was stated that the process concerning which chamber the file will go to at the Court of Cassation could take time.

It was also claimed that Özel is continuing work on a new party alongside this process and could make changes to his alliance strategy. According to the claims, the new structure is being considered for a more left-oriented position, unlike the center-right-heavy line during the Kılıçdaroğlu era.
