Özgür Özel explains why the May 14-28 elections could not be won: 'We could not give the voters that perception'

Sabah Newspaper Columnist Yavuz Donat shared in his column today the dialogue he had with CHP leader Özgür Özel in Nicosia, where he went for the 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Donat, in the relevant section of his article titled 'Özgür Özel told me...', wrote:

PARTY SCHOOL

"In the West... Social democratic parties have backyards.

Like a research center.

Like a party school.

Like a think tank.

Without these, it is very difficult for a social democratic party to make progress.

Upon these words of ours, the CHP Chairman said:

"We have established a very large organization... Three-dimensional... Audit... Coordination... And training."

WHY WAS THE ELECTION LOST?

Date... July 20, 2024... 50th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Nicosia... Concorde Hotel... Terrace floor.

A conversation with Özgür Özel... And a few headlines:

Party School... Our indispensable... It is being revived.

But it is not enough... We also established a Party Academy.

A staff of 15 is working constantly... There are also volunteer teams... I am very pleased with their output.

There is a very important issue we are researching and focusing on... Why did we lose the last election (May 14-28, 2023)?

We lost... Because... We could not convince the voters of the perception that 'the CHP can govern this country'.

Now... I am pursuing convincing the voters of the perception that we can govern... This is my priority, my main goal."
